DMEPOS Revalidation
Maintain a current Medicare enrollment record and prepare a complete revalidation submission without waiting for expired documents or unresolved changes.
What revalidation is
Revalidation renews and verifies the information supporting Medicare enrollment. It is also a checkpoint for ownership, locations, accreditation, bond coverage, licenses, disclosures, and supplier operations. A revalidation request does not replace the obligation to report required changes when they occur.
Records to reconcile
- Ownership, managing control, authorized officials, and adverse-action disclosures
- Practice, mailing, correspondence, and record-storage addresses
- Accreditation renewal dates, locations, and product-category scope
- Surety-bond renewal, riders, replacement, and claimed-exception support
- Federal, state, and local license renewal for the supplier and products
- Products and services actually furnished compared with reported categories
- NPI, tax, EFT, insurance, contact, and supporting-document consistency
- Current PECOS information and unresolved change-of-information filings
Revalidation control process
- 01Maintain a documentation calendar for enrollment, accreditation, bond, license, insurance, and ownership deadlines.
- 02Review the official revalidation due-date information and contractor notice.
- 03Compare PECOS and prior enrollment records with the supplier's current legal and operating facts.
- 04Resolve unreported or incomplete changes through the correct enrollment workflow.
- 05Collect current supporting documents and submit the revalidation through PECOS or the applicable official method.
- 06Track development requests and retain the complete submission, response, and decision record.
Deactivation risk
Missing a required revalidation or leaving material inconsistencies unresolved can place billing privileges and payment at risk. Confirm due dates and response instructions directly with CMS and the applicable enrollment contractor.
